How to disable IPV6 in Fedora 6

FC6 has IPv6 turned on. Turn it off to get a slight improvement. Here is how you do it:

edit /etc/sysconfig/network and change:

NETWORKING_IPV6=no

edit /etc/modprobe.conf and add the following lines:

alias net-pf-10 off

alias ipv6 off

Next, disable the IPv6 firewall:

/etc/init.d/ip6tables stop

/sbin/chkconfig –level 35 ip6tables off

And you are done! (reboot).
